October 8th
Hi ya all,
Worship will be as usual with the exception that teacher Kevin will have to go pick up his twin brother at the bus stop.
Teaching will be tag-team style with teacher Kevin and his twin brother. The message will be that God is the King of Kings. That we are his sons and daughters, thus, we are princes and princesses. Being princes and princesses means we have a responsibility to the King to be leaders in our kingdom.
Games will be as follows: Two relays and a one-on-one contest.
We'll need to use power point for the message.

Thanks for a great meeting yesterday! Here's the wrap-up from it...
Things going well
Creativity in Worship
Lots of new faces
Great & creative teachings
Leaders are connecting well
Great games
Things Needing Improvement
Nametag Wednesday
Communication among leaders - blog comments
More Wii games
A great suggestion was made to team up with another leader for mutual prayer and support. We all agreed that Wednesdays are the day the enemy attacks. We need to know & understand that and plan accordingly!! Be more intentional about devotions, quiet time, prayer and worship. Use the car drive or lunch time to connect with God. The better we are connected, the stronger our encounter...the more we can be used to bring Jesus to our kids.
Events
All leaders should attend all events...please communicate if you can't make it. No-shows are not a good thing! :) Cost is $10 for events
Misc. Stuff
Please use the weblog every week...it takes about 5 minutes to read and another 5 minutes to comment. It's not just for info - it's a place for all of our ideas, prayers and comments to be gathered together!
6:15 arrival - we are doing a great job with this!! keep it up...make sure to spread out and look for kids in the parking lot when you arrive. Especially keep an eye out for VIP wristbands...these are our new kids. Connect with them and connect them with other youth!
Door greeters - J12 Monique! Checking wristbands and giving a candy bar to VIP each week as they head into service!
Pray for more leaders...we need more leaders in J12 right now!!
Sunday morning attendance isn't optional...communication is necessary if you will be missing a Sunday morning for any reason!!
Bottom Line!!
You are an amazing team! I am so blessed to minister together with you and to see lives changed weekly for God. Keep up the good work and keep your eyes on Jesus...He is our strength, our peace and our protection. Stay prayed up, protect your family time and let's continue to see young people transformed by the Spirit of God.
Thanks!!

This week's Happenings!
Hey party people!!
This Wednesday will have Kevin overseeing the night and running the game. Matt, Denae & Monique are covering worship and Candice will be teaching on a lifestyle of purity.
J12 is going great so far!! Please make sure you have received your phone rosters (Denae has them) and let's start calling kids to make personal connections. This is very important to keep our kids plugged in, to know their birthdays and to be available for prayer & ministry as needed.
Reminder that this Sunday, October 5 is a leadership meeting. It's at 2pm at my home! Please call Josie or e-mail her to get on the potluck list. After this meeting, J12 staff will begin meeting on a regular basis separate from Encounter but I feel that we should all come together on Sunday to connect with what is happening in Student Ministries!!
Have a blessed week and I'll see you all by 6:15 on Wednesday!!

O.K. guys, tonight the dynamic duo is teaching. Teacher Kevin is doing games and worship is as usual.
I need help obtaining a sound track for the games...something like the sound track to a western or the "the good, the bad, and the ugly" because we are going to a "shoot out"...
Let me know if you can help...
Hugs & Kisses,
TK

From Pastor Steve!!
Hi all
I want to say THANK YOU for the time you have already invested in J12. The first two weeks have started off with a buzz! Last Wednesday night there were 60 kids and last night there were 51. Someone told me that there were 26 kids who were there last week that were NOT there last night. Maybe someone can call the kids that were missing and invite them for next week. The kids seem to be having a great time and there is a lot of energy and excitement.
A few things:
1. Worship – Matt and Monique…great job with the worship! It seems like we have rushed through the worship set a little bit and have been done in 10 minutes. Remember, you have about 20 minutes for worship. I think as the kids get to know the songs there will be even better participation. Also, please take the initiative to teach the kids about worship…why we lift our hands, why we clap, etc. This can be done before, during or after the worship set!
2. Speaking/Message – Kevin excellent job last night! The J13 thing was hilarious! Good solid message and creative. I think I originally said speak for 15 minutes, but let’s go ahead and take 20 minutes and a few minutes for an invitation or response time.
3. Check-in – We need a little more help in the parking lot checking in kids! It took a little too much time at the tables. We might need 3-4 people as to speed up the process. Kids would rather be playing, talking, etc. as opposed to standing in line to check in.
4. XBOX – I talked to Pastor Mike about asking the Encounter kids to stay clear of the J12 room. I noticed last night that there were about 5 high school kids who were dominating the XBOX’s and it prevented the J12 kids from playing! Let’s all make sure that there are no encounter kids in the J12 room. AND…we should limit the amount of time a kid can be on a game. Some of the kids last night said they haven’t had the opportunity to play yet because certain kids were on it the entire time. Maybe 10 minutes would be a good limit?
5. Games – The games have been going well. Thank you to Matt for scaring kids to death! Remember, when leading games you have to:
* be full of energy
* give clear direction
* demand and command the kids’ attention
AND…let’s all try to sit WITH the kids and NOT in the back…this will limit kids talking and goofing around!
All for now!! Next week Pastor Chuck is going to speak and I would like Kevin to provide a game that would last 15 minutes or so?
Blessings,
Pastors Steve and Tami

J12 Leaders
Hey, everybody!!
Wow, what an amazing night last week to get J12 started. We are gearing up for more this week. Once I get the details of the night, I will get them posted. Also, I have printed specific jobs for some of the leaders involving set up & clean up. Please see me on Wednesday to receive that list. Over the next few weeks, we will begin to set up our small groups for the purpose of connecting with and praying for our 5&6 graders.
Thanks and be blessed!!
